One of my favorite parts about fall is the change of the produce that’s in season. In my house growing up, we always could count on squash being served at the table, especially this time of year.  When you come in and shop at your local Coborn’s, you’ll have a variety of squash available. How do you know which one to choose? What do you do with it? Many of you, like myself, have recipes passed down from generations on the classic brown sugar squash that you have at Thanksgiving or maybe you’re one who only thinks of baby food when they hear squash. (oh come on, I know many of you are thinking it!)  If you haven’t tried squash before, or haven’t had it for a while, I challenge you to try my favorite squash recipe- see below. First a little tutorial about flax seeds… Flax is a super seed grown mostly in Canada, North Dakota and South Dakota. Minnesota and Wisconsin also produce flax.

Canada is the leading producer of brown flax seed and the Dakota’s tend to produce more of the golden flax. There is little difference in the two colors but many prefer the gold because it is easier to sneak into recipes, the brown is more visible in those muffins! We are getting real close to canning season and preserving those wonderful peaches, jams and sauces and I wanted to introduce you to a wonderful peach that just hit our Coborn’s stores.   They are so awesome, fresh and juicy.  Don’t pass up an opportunity to try these because they are great!!!  Their season starts from the beginning of June towards the end of September and they are awesome when using them for pies, jams, jellies, baking and grilling.  Here are a couple recipes that I tried and I want to pass on to you because they were so great!
