Quick and Easy Seared Ahi Tuna

Hello again, I am just returning from being on the road for three weeks in one of our stores helping set up their meat and seafood department.  As I was working I discovered a new hidden goodie and was so excited about it that I couldn’t wait to share with you.

It’s called Bumble Bee Super Fresh Seared Ahi Tuna with Garlic-Peppercorn Rub. If you love Sushi, you are going to love this product! It’s like having a Sushi Chef right in your own home.

The Ahi Tuna is Wild Caught, quick seared to lock in the freshness, seasoned with olive oil, sea salt, peppercorn and garlic powder and the fillets are thinly sliced and vacuum-packed for freshness.  It’s so easy all you have to do is place it in the refrigerator, thaw and then it is ready to serve.

Here are a couple ways I have discovered to serve this product.

Toss it in a quick salad with fresh greens and top with ginger dressing.

Fold, place on a cracker and top with fresh chopped cilantro or bean sprouts and a drizzle of hoisin sauce, soy sauce or wasabi.

If you are like me, a Makers Mark Cask Strength Neat is all you need, but if you really want to be the master of your cave, here are a few drinks I would suggest serving.

Ingredients
  • 1 Oz. Makers Mark
  • ¼ Oz. Cointreau
  • ¼ Oz. Fresh OJ
  • ¼ Oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¼ Oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • ¼ Oz. Agave Nector
  • Top with ¼ Oz Grand Marnier
  • Lime Wedge Garnish
Instructions
  1. Pour all in to chilled shaker.
  2. Shake and strain into a salt-rimmed glass.
  3. Top with float of ¼ oz Grand Marnier.
  4. Lime wedge garnish.

  • ¾ Oz. Makers Mark
  • ¾ Oz. Dekuyper Triple Sec
  • ¾ Oz. Dry Vermouth
  • ¾ Oz. Lime Juice
Instructions
  1. Fill old-fashion glass ¾ with ice.
  2. Pour ingredients in to chilled shaker.
  3. Shake and strain into glass and serve.

  • 1 ½ Oz. Angel’s Envy Bourbon
  • ½ Oz. Peach Liqueur
  • ¼ Oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¼ Oz. Simple Syrup
  • 2 Sashes Angostura Bitters
  • Club Soda
  • Peach, Mint or Luxardo Maraschino Cherry Garnish
Instructions
  1. Pour first five ingredients into a highball or old fashion glass.
  2. Top with club soda.
  3. Garnish with a peach, mint or Luxardo maraschino cherry.

 

Dog Days

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ Oz. Knob Creek Rye Whiskey
  • ½ tsp. Absinthe
  • 1 ¾ Oz. Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 1 ¾ Oz. Simple Syrup* (see notes)
  • 2 Oz. Ginger Beer
Instructions
  1. In a shaker add spirits, juice and syrup.
  2. Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
  3. Strain into a Collins glass over fresh ice and top with ginger beer.
  4. Garnish with a lemon wheel and mint sprig.
Notes
*Simple Syrup Recipe
Combine equal parts sugar and water in a sauce pan
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until sugar is fully dissolved
Allow to cool before using in cocktail
