If you’re lucky enough to have experienced a Juicy Lucy, you know that it’s much more than a simple burger – it’s burger paradise! It starts with a crazy amount of cheese stuffed inside a juicy beef patty. It’s then cooked until the outside is perfectly charred and the cheese is so hot you run the risk of burning your mouth with the first bite.
The Juicy Lucy originated right here in Minnesota. In fact, two local Minneapolis bars both claim to be the home of the original Juicy Lucy. Matt’s Bar began cooking Jucy Lucys – Matt’s takes a twist on the spelling – right behind the bar in the 1950’s and they quickly became a crowd favorite. Around the same time, the 5-8 Club began serving the delicious burger. It was such a big hit with their customers, they have since expanded to three locations in the Twin Cities. So, the jury’s still out on the original founder, but what’s known for sure, it’s an incredible burger!
