Weekly Ad Recipe – Cheesy Turkey And Rice Burrito

BurritoThis is a great recipe if you are watching those calories.  I have made it several times and the kids really like them. I have also added the low-fat sour cream to top it off!

Ingredients

1/2 Lb.  Lean Ground Turkey
1/2 Cup  Onions, chopped
2 Cloves  Garlic, minced
1 tsp.  Chili Powder
1/2 Cup  Salsa
1 Cup  Whole Grain Brown Rice, cooked
4 -  10” Whole Wheat Tortillas
3/4 Cup  Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/4 Cup   Cilantro, chopped (Optional)

Directions

Cook turkey, onions, garlic and chili powder in large nonstick skillet on medium heat for 5 minutes until turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, stirring occasionally. Stir in salsa and rice; simmer 3 minutes or until heated through. Spoon turkey mixture down centers of tortillas; top with cheese and cilantro. Fold in opposite sides of each tortilla, then roll up burrito style.

Beringer Chenin Blanc
Normally I would love a margarita with burrito’s. In an effort to live more healthy and reduce my calorie intake I started enjoying Chenin Blanc with burrito’s instead. My homemade margarita’s were about 550 calories where as a typical 5 ounce glass of Chenin Blanc is only 118 calories.
