Minnesota Produce from Minnesota Farms
When you’re choosing the right food to feed your family, you want to make sure it’s fresh, healthy and tastes great! A big part of choosing the freshest food is to try and buy local whenever you can. We’re lucky in Minnesota to have some many great farms nearby! It’s a great feeling to know that the tomato, squash, potato or green pepper you’re about to eat was grown and picked by your neighbors!
All this month, we’re getting to know the Minnesota farmers who supply Coborn’s and CobornsDelivers with the food you eat every day. We’ve met some local beef ranchers raising Certified Hereford Beef, checkout some of Minnesota’s dairy farmers and today we’re going into the fields for some fresh produce.
Stoney Brook Farms in Foley grows and amazing array of produce in Minnesota. From red potatoes to more than nine varieties of squash to super sweet and fresh sweet corn – they grow it! They pick the red potatoes right when they start to turn red so they’re incredibly fresh when they get to the store. Much of Stoney Brook’s sweet corn is in stores the day it’s picked!

Riverside Farms in Elk River is known for everything from peppers to cabbage. Their peppers are picked, washed, cooled down and then shipped to stores the next day. Watch them go through the cycle in this video! Their cabbage gets cooled down to 37 degrees in just a few hours to help lock in freshness and flavor. The cabbage is in stores the day after they’re picked!
